NOTICE OF VACANCY

NOTICE is hereby given that one vacancy has occurred in the membership of the above Parish Council due to one resignation.

Under the Local Government Act 1972, ten electors, from the ward of Teynham of Teynham Parish, can petition for an election by writing to the Proper Officer at Swale Borough Council, Swale House, East Street, Sittingbourne, ME10 3HT within 14 working days of the date of this Notice, i.e. by midnight on Friday 21^st June 2024.

If no petition is received within that time period, the Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-opting a person(s) onto the Parish Council.

Qualified (see note) persons wishing to be considered for this appointment, i.e. co-option, should apply in writing to the Clerk to the Parish Council as soon as possible but no later than Friday 21^st June 2024.

NOTE:

A person is qualified to be elected or co-opted and to be a councillor if they are a British, Commonwealth, Irish or European Union citizen and on the relevant day (that is, the day of nomination or election) they are 18 or over. In addition, the person must meet at least one of the following criteria: –

(1) On the relevant day and thereafter they continue to be on the electoral register for the parish, or

(2) During the whole of the twelve months before that day they have owned or tenanted land or premises in the parish, or

(3) During the whole of the twelve months before that day their principal or only place of work has been in the parish, or

(4) During the whole of the twelve months before that day they have resided in the parish or within three
